Pamela first realized she wanted to be a nurse when she was a small child, and she hasn’t looked back. Growing up with a beloved grandfather in general medicine, it was made plain how healthcare can positively change the world one person at a time. He inspired in her a sense of respect and compassion for every individual and a commitment to excellence manifested in skillful diagnosis and an unparalleled kind and attentive manner.Since graduating with her BSN in 1993, Pamela has gained much as a nurse from working in varied settings. Intensive Care honed her assessment skills & time management. International public health deepened her conviction to care for the underserved. Her Doctorate of Nursing of 1999 from Rush University prepared Pamela to be an exceptional Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Nurse.Midwifery became her calling late one night in a remote Honduran village. A local friend requested Pamela attend the birth of her child and in the faint candlelight of her humble home, through hours of labor and birth, her future work became crystal clear. She was meant to be with women.Upon attaining her Post Graduate Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier University in 2003; Pamela’s midwifery career began at a free-standing birth center in southern Texas. On the Westside of Chicago, she helped found a midwifery practice and grew it until the mountains of Colorado called her away., Since moving to Denver in 2009, Pamela has continued her rewarding work as a midwife providing full-scope women's health care. Whether in private practice or busy academic hospitals, her convictions remain the same. Pamela’s vocation is to support women through providing accessible, evidence-based, compassionate healthcare. Particular areas of clinical interest include: group prenatal care, behavioral health and gestational diabetes.Pamela is especially happy that joining Saint Joseph Hospital Midwives affords the opportunity to serve women and families of her own Five Points community.
